Fractional Laser & Optimised Light
For many people, looking great is as simple as a smart skin rejuvenation treatment. Skin rejuvenation treatments may involve the use of either optimised light (OPL) or fractional laser (FL) or sometimes both.
Optimised light is used to remove skin discolouration and broken capillaries, revealing clearer, more attractive skin. This treatment destroys the vascular and pigmented lesions associated with rosacea, broken blood vessels, sunspots and sun damage, age spots, hyperpigmentation, and benign tumors on the hands, legs, chest, arms and face. This treatment uses something called ‘selective photothermolysis’ to target pigmented cells in the skin. They selectively absorb the light energy as heat, which then destroys the damaged skin. These optimal wavelengths of light target the pigment of hemoglobin (for redness) and melanin (for pigmented lesions). Pigmented lesions undergo a mild abrasion and slough off within two or three days, while the vascular lesions blanch and then resolve within 10 to 14 days.
Fractional laser on the other hand focuses its therapy on treating fine lines and wrinkles. Fractional laser skin resurfacing provides great outcomes with minimal risks and reduced downtime, compared with other more invasive treatments. It’s the smart approach to skin resurfacing. Micro beams are used to create areas of treated tissue surrounded by untreated tissue, which provides faster healing and reduced side effects. The body’s natural healing process creates new, healthy tissue to replace the affected tissue, resulting in healthy, younger-looking skin.
